Consult with a plastic surgeon on Monday - what questions should I be asking?
Current questions I have:
Which surgeries/surgery would you recommend and what will it entail?
what is the recovery time and what will it entail?
what kind of scarring is expected? How Can I minimize that?
how will this affect pregnancy/childbirth in the next few years?
what kind of results can I expect?
what are the side effects, complications, etc. I could run into?
What would your competitor tell me to do?
what are life changes I need to implement and/or maintain after the surgery?
What is the cost? Is any of this covered by insurance?
What do patients typically ignore?
ETA: I had a gastric sleeve surgery 7/29/2021 I’ve lost 120ish lbs (122 depending on the day) since my highest weight, beyond what I needed to from my surgeon. I had the VSG to lose weight to qualify for a hernia repair after developing an incisional hernia after having my gallbladder taken out in 2019. The bariatric surgeon suggested I get plastics done simultaneously with the hernia repair… so this is the next step! I’m 32 years old and haven’t had any kids yet (assigned female at birth).
