Question about diseases

Barbara Brennan mentioned in one of her interviews that when the aura gets distorted That's when physical diseases come into existence. How is the same true for babies and newborns that are born with diseases? Did they bring it in from their past life? I'm just curious, I'm 22 getting to learn more about spirituality. I never went to BBSH. THANKS EVERYONE :)
