Upgrade radio or upgrade antenna and battery?

Using my UV-5R for scanning local repeaters when Iām driving around the woods with no cell service. I live in a mountainous area that has wildfires and storms that can come up fast and looking for upgrades? Or should I just upgrade to a different radio?
