Early/Mid Game Money Making

Post Body

So besides abusing the crap out of smithing, I don't know a reliable way of making money early/Mid game. I've tried trading, it's fun but tedious and slow. I've tried tournaments, also gets old after the like first 5 or so tournaments and also slow at making money. And I've often found myself going bankrupt making caravans and workshops until late game when I can run like 8 of them at once. Even Mid game when I get a town or castle or two I end up running them at a net loss until they've had like 2 in game years to properly develop and operate at a profit for me. So how do you legitimately make money early and Mid game?
