How to recruit once you chop heads?

I cannot for the life of me recruit other lords unless I have 80 relation. However since I’ve turned to the axe and always take prisoners, everyone hates me in every faction.
I’ve had to resort to giving fiefs to companions in order to grow my kingdom.
Do I just have to start letting lords go as opposed to prisoners? I really don’t want that since I play on console, and I auto win every fight with 180 cav, even beating armies at 600 with just my 320 army
