Gifts before/during Bankruptcy?
Post Body

Hello,

I'm looking at declaring bankruptcy, went through a bad divorce this past year, lost my job, am currently unemployed and have no means of paying debts associated with the divorce, child custody battle, etc.

My ex and I lived in Chicago and only had one car, that we owned jointly, that was eventually sold for close to the amount owed on it.

My family has been incredibly supportive and has offered to buy me a car while I work on getting back to supporting myself. My concern is that I may be forced to sell that car in bankruptcy. I relocated to KC and live in Missouri now. Should I turn down the offer or how can I avoid losing the car family paid for during a bankruptcy proceeding?

Thanks for the help!
