Post Body

My girlfriend and I are moving to Bangkok next week and we’re both keen on making cocktails. Thai Customs law permits that travellers entering Thailand are allowed to bring in a maximum of 1 liter of liquor per person.

As alcohol can be very expensive in Thailand due to import duties, excise taxes, and VAT cumulated, we want to make the most of our allowance of what we can bring.

Some spirits are easier, or cheaper, to obtain in Thailand than others. For example, Johnnie Walker is easily obtainable in Thailand due to their presence in the market. However, some things are much harder to obtain: Angostura bitters are much more limited in range and 3x the price compared to here in the UK.

So, naturally I’ll pack some bitters. I’m wondering if anyone knows of any other examples of spirits, liqueurs etc., that are difficult to find in Thailand that I would be advised to bring from the UK.

Thank you!
