A thank you and a personal story.
Post Body

I was over at my mother’s friends house (we’ll call her S) while visiting my grandparents, as they were close by and my brothers and I were friends with S’s daughters. S had a Shetland sheepdog named Newman. We all loved Newman, he was a sweet, cuddly, doofus who just loved everybody. We arrive to the house and open the door and are immediately greeted by Newman. Instantly I notice the giant shaved patch and the 27 stitches. After the greetings I asked what happened and I was told that S’s fiancé at the time asked if she could watch his pit bull, Sarge, for a little while he was out of town. She agreed. The rest of the story writes itself. I remember those photos. The house looked like a crime scene, and Newman was in so much pain. This dog that we loved was hurting, and could barely move. S felt horrible, and the incident actually made her anti pit. But because I was a dumb kid, I carried that pro pit stance for too long. I didn’t want to base it off of one incident. But after reading more about pits and seeing the horror stories, I had to quit denying it. Thankfully this sub has made that easier, giving me ample sources and testimonials.

Thank you.
