I don’t know where to go for information or help. I’m going to euthanize my 8yr old pit. He attacked my sisters dog (2019); it was bad but fortunately her dog survived. I did not witness the attack and my sister didn’t give me all the details at the time. One thing that stood out to me is that it was random and she saw no signs of aggression before doing it.

I was very confused because I made sure to socialize him and had never had a problem. Fast forward to now and he nipped at my neighbor. Thankfully it was more of a scratch and not a large one. I apologized and talked to him and his family. I never imagined he would do that to a person. I’ve been in denial about my dog. I tried to make an appointment for euthanasia and the vet wanted me to get training first. My fear is that he can turn on us or hurt someone. I was also worried that he showed no aggression. No growling no barking no lunging nothing. I spoke to a trainer and he recommended euthanasia as well. I am going to go through with it I have an icky feeling that something may happen if I don’t. I’ve had him since he was 3 weeks old.

I some how always believed that “it’s the owners fault”. If anyone has any information that can help me better understand I would greatly appreciate it.
