I donā€™t know where to go for information or help. Iā€™m going to euthanize my 8yr old pit. He attacked my sisters dog (2019); it was bad but fortunately her dog survived. I did not witness the attack and my sister didnā€™t give me all the details at the time. One thing that stood out to me is that it was random and she saw no signs of aggression before doing it.

I was very confused because I made sure to socialize him and had never had a problem. Fast forward to now and he nipped at my neighbor. Thankfully it was more of a scratch and not a large one. I apologized and talked to him and his family. I never imagined he would do that to a person. Iā€™ve been in denial about my dog. I tried to make an appointment for euthanasia and the vet wanted me to get training first. My fear is that he can turn on us or hurt someone. I was also worried that he showed no aggression. No growling no barking no lunging nothing. I spoke to a trainer and he recommended euthanasia as well. I am going to go through with it I have an icky feeling that something may happen if I donā€™t. Iā€™ve had him since he was 3 weeks old.

I some how always believed that ā€œitā€™s the owners faultā€. If anyone has any information that can help me better understand I would greatly appreciate it.
