The Dax Borchardt case really upsets me and infuriates me

Post Body

Has anyone heard about the Dax Borchardt case? He was a 14 month old baby. He was mauled by two pit bulls that his babysitter owned. The dogs had a great reputation and she trained them very well, even according to neighbors and friends. Never showed any signs of aggression. One day, she let the dogs out. She was holding little Dax, the baby. She called the dogs to come inside and they literally snapped, grabbed the baby from her and killed him.

Unlike most pitbull owners, she is now against pitbulls and will never own one again. She said she was absolutely shocked and wouldn’t in a million years guess her dogs would do this to a baby. It has messed her up emotionally.

Not only do I feel bad for the baby, but I feel horrible for the mother and father of the child. They lost their baby boy in such a brutal way, and to make matters worse, the father was receiving back lash and threats from pitbull owners because “he was giving pitbulls a bad name by sharing his story.” These people are MENTALLY INSANE and it just infuriates me. No one should have to go through that when they’ve lost their child to two murder beasts.

Wow. The fact that she had to defend the breed so much because she probably knows they’ve attacked children and babies before. It just seems exhausting. Good for you on protecting your child. I witnessed a child get attacked by a pit when I was a kid. It was very scary.

You worded this better than I could have… thank you! Perfectly said. I stand by this as well!

Exactly, and it’s almost always that way. They defend their pit before you even say anything. I grew up with labs and it’s a great feeling not having to worry if your dog is going to maul someone. We had friends over all the time and my parents never had to worry. Our neighbor has a pit, and I get very nervous if she’s out walking it while I’m with my dog. I will say that her pit seems very well-trained. It walks on the leash right next to her and never pulls. However, that doesn’t stop me from thinking it couldn’t one day try and break away from her to attack my dog or one of the small dogs in the neighborhood. She literally told me “He has to be well-trained like this.” That told me everything I needed to know. My boyfriend carries a knife on him when he’s walking our dog just in case. I don’t know if that would even stop one of those beasts.

Exactly. I was stunned to hear they were giving him a hard time. Just goes to show how nuts they really are…

You’re absolutely correct. If she owned a lab, beagle, golden, cocker spaniel, pug, border collie, etc, I can guarantee she wouldn’t have felt the need to defend it. This “nanny dog” propaganda BS with pitbulls needs to end, among other propaganda. I find it hilarious when you present pit people with the stats that this breed has attacked more than any other, including unprovoked, and they deny them for any reason they can pull out of their a**. There was a documentary on the Dax case and one of the big pitbull advocates was interviewed(can’t remember her name). She had the nerve to say she didn’t truly know what happened that day, as if the baby sitter was fabricating her story. Then, had the audacity to say “was the baby crying?” WHAT does THAT have to do with ANYTHING? So, the attack would be justified if the baby was crying? Do these people listen to their dumb selves when they talk???

I couldn’t agree more. It’s absolutely horrendous.

What? Omg. :(

Yeah, such a sad and horrible case. I’m sorry to hear about your dog. Did he/she survive?

She was a pro-tobacco lobbyist? Wow! This woman is worse than I thought. Yes, I loved his response to that BS!

[not loaded or deleted]

That’s where I heard about it!

[not loaded or deleted]

Yeah, that woman was making me so mad because that didn’t make any sense at all. Nothing she said made sense, and her “arguments” were embarrassing. It’s like I lost brain cells listening to her responses to the interviewer.

That’s amazing! Greyhounds are so cute. I feel bad for the ones that are used to race. Are you familiar with Jenna Marbles and Julian? You can find them on YouTube. They have adopted retired racing greyhounds!

Awww. Poor baby. That’s so sad! What kind of dog?

[not loaded or deleted]

WTF?! I can’t even believe what I’m reading because it’s just so insane. Why isn’t animal control doing anything about those dogs when they’ve been called more than once? They are clearly dangerous. Is there anything else you can do? I would absolutely dread living next to these dogs.
