Why is there silicone glue in the extruder connector?

Post Body

Somewhat cut and dry question but here they mention using a hair drier to heat the silicone glue a bit to aid in safely removing it.

And I guess this brought up a few questions:

  1. Why is there silicone glue for this specific connection? They did not put it on most of them?
  2. What kind of temperature are we talking where the silicone will melt but the plastics/electronics will not be damaged?
  3. Is silicone glue runny when heated or can I trust it to stay in its shape and not melt into one where it's blocking the connection?
