For some people, meeting others is easy. For some of us, it's hard. Fear of being too forward or fear of rejection or just social anxiety - regardless (don't you hate when people say irregardless?) it can be hard but coffee could be easy.
For example, if we DM and it seems to be going well, we can decide to meet at a specific public place like Panera. We could even not exchange photos and I would say, "I'll arrive around 9:30 am and be wearing bright red baseball hat and plaid coat sitting by myself" so you could actually scope me out without having to be awkward. If I really wasn't what you hoped for, you just get your drink to go and I'll be none the wiser.
But hopefully you'll sit and we can chat. And maybe there's no magic or the moment has passed. That's ok too! It's not like life is a contest or a race.
I'm closer to Baltimore than DC. Which means if you're somewhere like Fairfax, this might not work. I'm not an ogre or a troll (as in I don't live under a bridge) and I'm not a bearded lumberjack or giant teddy bear. I'm just a guy.
And heck, if you came in and walked up to me and said, "Hi, I think you're here to meet me" I would gladly buy you a cup of coffee (or tea because they're both good and sometimes a really good cup of tea can be quite civilized!)
So, if you think you might like to potentially meet a guy for a coffee (or tea) DM me!
