I am recovering from surgery and a little bored.
I was at the old Mighty Pint, now shuttered, where I met some people who worked on the campaign having a drink. They were young and idealistic as I was back then, and one asked how I felt about Quinn’s chances.
I was candid - I didn’t think he had it in the bag, and that Rauner was quite likely to win. Instantly the whole group went cold on me, and I understood why. I was hoping for a spirited discussion on the candidate, but it’s clear they wanted something different.
Well, Rauner won but then lost four years later. It is now almost a decade on and I was just thinking about that conversation in 2014. I think I was more lucky than prescient, but it was also a midterm year with a Democrat president. Either way, lol, told you so.
Anyway, just curious if there’s anyone left in DC who worked on that campaign. Bonus points if you remember me from the Pint. Where did you end up?
