one curiosity i had when going through my initial playthrough and character creation was why the distinct lack of races? like it feels like my first time playing D&D and all i'm allowed to use is the players handbook for my source material. They have the skeletons and body types for other races like a kobold or a bug bear. Maybe some other animalistic races. Why not have more racial options in a game so-like D&D dice and all but allow such creativity with the classes? given that WoTC owns the dev company they could add in so many more racial options and just add in an NPC/companion here and there and more dialogue choices.
