Minor spoilers for Act 3. Read at your own discretion.
If you’re in Act 3 and you want to use the appearance of Gauntlet of the Tyrant, don’t. Not if you want to actually do one of the main line quests. Specifically the one involving killing Gortash and taking his Netherstone.
Once you apply the appearance, the game thinks you’ve actually acquired said item. However, acquiring the item requires killing Gortash and cutting off his hand for Orin’s quest. This subsequently gives you his Netherstone and his hand. It also actually gives you the Gauntlet and replaces the item you were trying to transmog, destroying the original item in the process.
This also completes the Disable the Steel Watch quest.
It also autosaves once this happens so you better hope that if you did this on accident, it hasn’t been long since you last saved.
Luckily, I hadn’t done anything this session other than messing with appearances, but I’m still not happy that this happened.
