Found out that Glut won't cause the beholder in the underdark to come out if he alone goes down there. So if you want the Shaft for the Morning Frost staff without the fight. Kill the petrified drow and raise him using glut and walk on over something else to reanimate and the drow will drop dead allowing you to loot him.
