Help building a dual-wielding, high-DPR face for my party
Post Body

So, I’m trying to put together a build for my Tav as the face and melee striker of the party. Yes I know this is not really optimal, but it’s my first playthrough and I’m playing on balanced so I want it to be fun more than anything.

As the tittle says, I’m building him as a dual-wielding fighter/rogue, but I’m having trouble decided on where to start.

I took the Guild Artisan background for Persuasion and Insight proficiency. So those are at least covered.

But from there on out, I’m at a loss. I play tabletop DnD but the rules are a little different and I also usually play either Paladin/Sorcadin, or some kind of ranged blaster, but never the face, so I’m stepping out of my comfort zone a little.

Skill proficiencies suck for a fighter that plans to be a face, only getting a maximum of 4, and none of them are really any good for a face, but rogues can get up to 7 useful skills, with expertise in two.

But then if I go rogue first, I won’t get heavy or medium armor proficiencies, thus hindering my ability to stay in fights longer because of lower AC.

Then there’s weapon choices. Would I be better off dual wielding finesse light weapons and passing on the Dual Wielder feat in a DEX build? Or would the extra bonus action from the Thief subclass make the Dual Wielder feat worth it and go with a STR build? I feel like having up to 4 attacks per turn, not counting Action Surge, that do “full” damage (weapon damage dice modifier for offhand attacks instead of no modifier for offhand attacks) from the latter option is really powerful. Throw in potions of speed/haste and it could be very potent.

I should also note that I’m doing a morally ambiguous — leaning more toward good — playthrough so stealth and sleight of hand for occasional thievery is important.

I’m sorry if this seems all jumbled… I’m just a bit flustered at the moment.

Thanks for any help in advance.
