Apparently if you ignore a current event happening and walk away, you miss out on some things.

Take Waukeens rest. I walked in on everything on fire, and decided to walk away for a bit after struggling to walk around the burning buildings. Come back to everyone dead and the fire put out.

Then later when I got to the Grymforge, I went to check upstairs to explore. Came back to find Nere dead (unable to return the boots) and all the gnomes gone.

I'm playing blind for the most part, so I'm looking forward to all the stuff I potentially missed for a 2nd playthrough
