I'm probably not saying anything new here, but Bard is straight up fantastic in BG3. I played the EA version last year and finished it twice through as pure caster and then again as melee. For the full release, I wanted to play something a little "everyday man on the street". Just some poor hardworking guy out to make some coin, when an illithid ship scoops him up. Bard sort of fit that roll. My headcannon is that he worked at some middle class Baldur's Gate tavern with a pretentious name like the Fancy Maiden, or Crowing Rooster. Just an artist spreading joy, doing his thing, suddenly thrust into an adventure.
Anyway, holy crap lore bard is fun and legit OP. It comes right out of the gate with some great spells, and embracing the role of back of party buffer/debuffer has made the game almost too simple. Level 6 now, and between Hypnotic Pattern, Dissonant Whispers, Fear, Tasha's Laughter, and Haste, the enemies barely get a turn. And when they do, Cutting Words nullifies thier attacks half the time. Also picked up countercharm, and since he rarely gets attacked at the back of party, I have completely decked him out in him with as many bonus-action, reaction, and on-cast effect items as possible. He's a walking arsenal of buffing and reactions.
The RP dialog choices are great too. Many times you get options that opens up unique conversations. Usually its in the form of Bardic lore, as you quote some obscure book passage, or sing a song that relates to the conversation. Or its something hilariously witty or snarky.
That's all, just wanted to share my journey!
