Oven calibration or new oven

Post Body

I bought a 2nd home this time last year and this is the stove that came with it. It’s a GE brand electric stove (not sure of the model).

Most of the bakes I’ve done in this oven come out burnt. So I bought an oven thermometer to see what is happening to my temp. I timed the oven for the same amount of time for one of my regular baked goods and then checked on it periodically during that time.

It ranged between 350 and 375. Most of the time it was higher than 350.

As a newer baker, is this normal? Do all ovens fluctuate this much?

I don’t know how to calibrate it and wonder if I need to just buy a new oven. Any advice or tips welcomed.

Sorry. I hoped my picture would help illustrate what my temperature was set to. It’s 350.

Thank you. I assumed adjusting my baking temperature down would be the fastest way to address this issue but wasn’t sure how much to drop it to maintain an average 350.

Certainly learning here. Thank you for the tip.
