The podcast Notorious Bakersfield, which covers the sometimes lurid, often incredible, and always true past of Bakersfield, is now available as a book! Author Robert Petersen will be at Rusty's Pizza, 1500 Wible Road, tonight, Sunday, December 3 at 6:00 p.m. to sign books. You can purchase one there, or if you've already shopped at Russo's or Amazon, bring your copy and get it signed. Or just come by and hang out!

The book covers 30 of the podcast's episodes, expanding the stories with additional research and detail--and photographs, some of which have never been published in this century. If you like local history, true crime, or are just curious about what makes Bakersfield the way it is, you'll like this 242-page book.

Robert Petersen will also make appearances to talk about local history and stories featured in the book:

- December 5 at the Beale Memorial Library, 5:30 p.m. - free - celebrate the newly re-opened Local History Room. Robert will explain some of his research techniques and favorite ways to learn about the community's past

- December 7 at the Padre Hotel, 5:30 p.m., for the Kern Literacy Council's Wine and Words Event, $50 - this is a fundraiser for the Kern Literacy Council, and Robert will talk about some of the more notable crimes and happenings at the Padre over the years

- December 16 at Jerry's Pizza, 1:30 p.m. - free - book signing and meet and greet - come hang out at this legendary local spot and learn about some of the, shall we say, interesting things that have happened around that location

A new episode of Notorious Bakersfield is published every Tuesday on all the major podcast channels.
