I was frustrated with some incoming propositions today, and I decided to share my first terrible RP story with you all, in the hopes to remind you that things can always be worse!
So I've been around the RP block more than a few times. Coming on almost ten years now, actually. Jeez. Anyways, I've played on alot of different mediums. Kik was a big one for awhile, then I moved to forums and Discord and took the more verbose, detailed writing, which is still my prefered way of playing, and recently I've gotten more into the reddit scene too.
Now generally, I like my smut. I'm not ashamed of that. I'm really good at writing smut. But I tend to like a strong narrative too. Something to ground the sex, and give it some more backbone in the case of a long-term story. This was not always the case though. This story goes all the way back to when I was just starting out, via Ifunny ERP.
Now, for those of you not in the know; yes, the meme app "Ifunny" did have a decent little ERP scene back around 2015/2016 (maybe it's gotten better again? I don't know, I haven't checked) it was simple stuff. You post a photo of a room or setting, you say generally what yoy want in the caption and then people just drop starters right there in the comments and you go on from there. All open to the public, quick and VERY dirty, but fun. I stumbled upon this and decided to give it a shot. Obviously, it's worked out pretty well for me since then, but looking back it was not a good way to do it.
Besides the limitation of the platform, and the rampant amount of trolls who just hated that there was anything on ifunny that wasnt a shitty meme page, there were just a glut of bad players. Like, imagine the worst group of roleplayers you've met, and that's everyone. Myself included, I only fot better once I got out of that. But even then, there was one guy I knew was worse than the rest.
He dropped in once to a plot I'd made. A simple thing, I think it was a bar hookup scene. Real boilerplate stuff. Anyways, we'll call him Nova, since I remember his pfp was the eponymous superhero. So Nova's character comes in, looking like the gigachad meme by the way he describes him, and point blank asks mine for sex. As I was working with a set of characters that I'd developed a bit by this point, she told this guy to fuck off.
Nova's character doesn't take kindly to this and gets a bit more directly aggressive. I can work with that though. Nova OOC, just drops a little message asking me to add a bit more detail next time. Kind of annoying, but okay. Whatever.
Next post, my character is more obstinate, and I write with a little more. His character, in the middle of this bar scene, pulls out his cock. Note: he described his schlong as being multiple feet long. This is not something I'm particularly into, or asked for: he just does that.
So, naturally, my next response is to have my character move away from him. Nova responds by deciding that not only is his character fast enough to stop mine from leaving, but also to write how he takes her out back and start doing it.
This was weird, and I didn't care for it too much. God-moding and all. I tell him as much and he makes some vague excuse, and then tells me that I need to be more detailed again. Alright. Fuck this guy.
If I were of the mindset I have now, I probably would have just told Nova to fuck off and done my own thing, maybe blocked him if he got pissy. But I was younger and wanted to give him a chance.
We played a few more short scenes, all with a similar track of how things went. - His character was always described physically like a Jojo's character. - His character was always either outright supernaturally powerful, or just better than everyone at everything - No matter what the pairing I was after, or the dynamic I said I wanted, it always turned into a non-con scene. - He always god-moded and tried to control my character - he consistently complained that I wasn't "writing enough detail" when I was barely writing my fucking character.
This came to a tipping point when I posted a fantasy-based RP. What I wanted was a dramatic, but admittedly smutty, story about an Elf woman meeting her lover of a different race in the forest, a Forbidden romance ensuing and being discovered, leading them to flee together and gonon an adventure.
Nova comments, I decide to give him another chance because I'm a dumbass. His character comes in, rippling with with stupid amount of muscle, and tries to sexually assault my character. She pushed him off and runs, he TELEPORTS BEHIND HER (nothing personal kid) and grabs her again, pulling out his massive cock. The npc who was supposed to be the guy who finds them and sets off the whole adventure comes in and naturally tries to help the woman about to be raped.
In his infinite wisdom, Nova does not consider that this is not me trying to get the story back on track. No, how could it be, when I am to his fetish what a "Pez" dispenser is to little candies. So, Nova's character takes this NPC that I made and write for, and he smashes his head in. Then proceeds to complain that I'm not detailed enough for him as he shoves it in. At this point, I was done.
I stop replying to him and hope he gets the fucking hint and leaves me alone amicably After a few comments on my posts that I ignore, Nova leaves this long tirade berating me for not responding to him, cursing me out and threatening that he's going to slander me on his account.
I respond by pointing out all the things he's done that are shitty. The bad attitude, completely ignoring what I want in the story for his own fetish, demanding I write to his liking while he completely ignores my complaints. Nova, being the cool guy that he is, curses me out again, calls me a whore and then blocks me. And so the story ends.
This isn't the grandest, or the worst story, but I think it's a good indicator of people on the internet, especially in RP circles. I've met so many wonderful people and excellent writers in this hobby, and they're what keep me coming back, what I wade through people like our boy Nova for. Few and far-between as they are.
There have been people like him. Twice I've had people try to guilt trip me into playing with them, decrying how "nobody wants to play my specific idea with me! Even though I refuse to advertise it and only respond to existing ads, asking them to conform to my demands!" And I've summarily cut them out. If you're a partner I have or had, and you're reading this, you're probably cool.
If you happen to be Nova, and you're reading this,
Go fuck yourself.
