i need to vent before i lose my marbles.
i’ve been writing with someone for a few years now. we’re best friends by this point, we’ve met up irl and i plan on visiting them in the spring. we have several aus for our characters.
in the beginning they were an amazing partner but they’ve slowly and surely gotten lazy in all of the way bad roleplay partners do.
they stopped contributing to the plot or offering ideas. their character started switch but turned into a selfish, listless nightmare sub. they stopped even paying attention to my responses and inadvertently teleported characters to various rooms/positions they weren’t in to begin with.
the pièce de résistance is the wholly reactionary, borderline nonsensical responses they’ve devolved to. my character says x, y and z. their character feels ‘big and sad’ and sighs or if they’re happy they’re ‘shimmering’ or ‘fluttering’. don’t get me wrong, i love flowery writing, but when it’s the same handful of words a million times over with no meat to the response i start to get grumpy.
our roleplays felt like complex, interesting stories to start with but now it feels like praise porn for their uninteresting attention whore character who lays there like a wet fish no matter what the scene is. you know how it makes me feel? big and sad.
out of annoyance i did a search for ‘sighed’ in our discord server and they’ve typed it no less than 1,037 times. considering that sighing is almost always the entirety of what happened in their response that’s 1,000 times too many.
i’ll be a big girl and talk to them at some point but they’re a sensitive person and i’m worried about damaging our friendship. venting here was a good stress relief, though. if you’ve read all of this you’re a real one.
