Neighbors Lost Groceries
Post Body

APPARENTLY I HAVE TO MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR AS PEOPLE CANT READ & COMPREHEND IT SEEMS... THERE IS NO FOOTAGE THAT WAS CAUGHT ON MY DOORBELL CAM OF ANY DELIVERY TO MY DOOR BECAUSE THERE WAS NONE!!! I LIVE IN A COMPLEX WITH OVER 1,000 APARTMENTS AND WE HAVE SEEN THREE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME DOORMAT AS US AND WE MOVED IN NOT EVEN A MONTH AGO.... THE MAT WAS PURCHASED THIS WEEK!!! IT IS SOOO POSSIBLY IT WAS ONE OF THE OTHERS IN THE BUILDING & OUR APARTMENT NUMBERS ARENT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING THE SAME. I SHOWED THE LEASING OFFICE EVERYTHING I HAVE AND WAS TOLD HES A SHADY GUY

My neighbor (in same apartment building) called the cops on me today. I woke up late (around 1pm) as I had a lot of trouble sleeping last night. When I woke up I took my dog out and when I got back to my apartment a strange man was at my door ringing the door bell. Being alone and unsure what he could want I didn't answer, he left and came back with a note saying that their Walmart order was delivered to my door, he left an incomplete number and asked if I could call him to come get it. This confused me A LOT as I hadn't seen any bags from Walmart, I went and looked at our smart doorbell to see if it caught anything aaannnddd nothing. Due to me cleaning the house and not thinking it was urgent as I didn't have their stuff & when things like this happen to me I just contact the store and they ALWAYS either give a refund or send the same stuff again. An hour later I received a message from the apartment leasing agent asking if I got someone else's delivery.... this confused me even more as it seems they escalated the problem to reporting me to the office and I've just never heard of someone doing something like this. I informed her that I have no idea what they're talking about and she thanked me and I thought that was that... I was wrong. Another hour later I have a police officer banging on my door demanding that I come outside and talk about these groceries. I spoke with him through the doorbell and told him I wasn't home at that moment to stop these kinds of demands as I was not leaving my apartment either way. He then pushes me to give him my number to talk with me, he was very belittling and made it very clear that he's already made up his mind and I am the grocery thief. He kept pushing to talk in person as he's "not good at phone calls" but we had already discussed everything in my opinion. I asked him why we would possibly need to meet again because again I'm soooo beyond confused at this point, he got very agitated when I asked for him to clarify what's happening as I've seen police love to be all innocent and then corner someone. The longer this goes on the more mad he gets until he just told me he'll see me tomorrow and hung up on me. I've had food delivered so often as I don't have a car which means that I've dealt with them delivering stuff to the wrong address and I never once thought to call the police and make them find my missing stuff (to me it's very entitled, why not just tell Walmart they messed up and they need to fix it). Anyways, I'm just wondering why grounds they have to stand on. It seems they are very convinced I have the groceries and due to the driver taking the picture on "my mat" they won't let up. I do not want to give up my rights because someone feels so entitled that they won't believe someone telling them they didn't take their groceries. Will it make me look worse if I decline any requests to look in the apartment or doorbell cam, I just hate that as an adult I have to prove I didn't steal something when someone else made the mistake of delivered to the completely wrong apartment. Please ask any questions, I will answer as much as possible.

It would be to them as well. Counter with it. Use multiple clips if you have them. Establish that he is aggressive. If an officer asks to view inside, allow only that officer and not this individual. Cooperate because you have nothing to hide but do not let this guy to be part of that. Establish the narrative that he is aggressive and scares you. Put him on the defensive. Make him out to be a bully. The biggest part is cooperation with law enforcement. Look into advocacy groups that can help represent you as well.

I realize you don’t have delivery footage but do you have footage of him at your door harassing you? I’d be submitting that vs anything else. Our BN thinks our doorbell cam is motion activated, what he fails to remember is that it’s 24/7 no matter what. He comes and rings the bell waits for the camera light to turn off and flies off the handle. He’s been busted multiple times making the statement the red lights not on so we don’t have any evidence.

If he doesn’t have any real evidence, the burden of proof is on him. You could easily be doing the same.
