I normally just creep on Reddit but I think this qualifies.
My husband and I moved into a new house recently, we have two husky mixes and they're pretty sweet all around. Our male dog can be a little iffy with new people so we try to make friends as fast as possible, get ahead of the problem, ya know? It's necessary to note that our dogs are on a line because there's no fence in the backyard yet, we're putting one up ourselves, but it's only long enough for our yard. Well we're talking to the neighbors, who have their own dog who's been barking, growling, snarling, etc. since we got there, about the dogs. I tell the husband that if our dogs do ANYTHING wrong, especially if it involves their dog, that they can do what's necessary to make sure everyone is safe, BUT, that they do so at their own risk because again he's not a fan of strangers. This grown man looks at me, and says if my dog crosses the property line he'll shoot him. His wife who looks startled and nervous says, "No he won't, we don't even have a gun" And then scurries off inside. The man grabs his dog, tells me I better "shorten the lines, or else." And goes back inside.
Safe to say I'm not a fan.
We have two large GSD’s and completely get it. We’ve introduced them to the neighborhood and they are mellow. If a stranger walks by we definitely know. The backyard neighbor that I have posted about has deemed them dangerous and has done everything he can to try to make us get rid of them. Our best defense was to put up cameras as our yard is fenced all around. Definitely take him seriously and file a complaint if he threatens again.
