(M) I have a small Rex that I love, but…

So I own a small Rex (medium firmness), which is a size up from the mini. Although I can take the shaft (I use it for anal), the knot’s currently just too big for me. Should I just use plenty of lube and slowly take it in or should I try wearing some butt plugs and gradually size up until I get to that 2.1-inch marker?
