Looking for alternatives to Porcupine Mts

So, we were looking forward to doing a large back country hiking trip first week in August to Porcupine mountains. Unfortunately all of the campsites are taken for that week. We are looking for alternatives at around a 10 hour drive or less from SW Michigan that is similar to porcupines. Any ideas would be appreciated.
