Newbie question mounting Dynafit tech bindings

Ok, this is embarrassing but I wanted to experiment with mounting some old Dynafit bindings on some old skis and I can't get past the entry question: where to position the boot? After reading a bunch of blogs and watching a bunch of videos there seems to be a variety of advice or they just blow right past this point.
Center of boot sole is placed directly over the manufacturer's marked center of ski? Then work outwards from there. Right?
