ATK are teasing a new product: a hybrid binding.
Will it be a Shift killer?
Should most backcountry skiers skip hybrid bindings and fully commit to tech bindings?
I used Shifts when I first got into backcountry because I thought I'd do 50/50 backcountry/resort. I quickly ended up at more like 90/10 so I switched to ATK Crests to cut weight and accelerate transitions.
Perhaps I should have tried out backcountry with rental kit and then fully committed instead of having a hybrid binding intermediate step.
EDIT: Here's the new product being used by Nikolai Schirmer, giving more of a view. Looks similar to the Shifts (alpine heel and tech/alpine toe).
