For many years, whenever I skied inbounds I was exclusively on tele gear (axls and then outlaw X). In the backcountry, I would switch between a light-ish AT setup and tele. It's been a long time since I skied with a locked heel inbounds and last season I felt myself wishing I had an alpine setup or an AT setup which was beefy enough to ski inbounds.
What I'm trying to do is put together a setup that is beefy enough for inbounds skiing, light enough to do SHORT(1.5K-3K) tours(I have other gear for big days), and I want to do a double mount with binding freedom inserts so I can go back and forth between 22 designs tele bindings and some AT binding that would fit these requirements. I know which tele bindings I'll be using so i'm trying to figure out which AT binding would work best. These will be going on a black crows atris ski.
Some of the things I'm considering:
Beefy AT bindings: looking at fritschi tecton, ATK raider, dynafit radical, dynafit rotation. any other suggestions? Since this setup will see occasional inbounds use I am leaning towards the tecton but i'm sure something like the raider or the rotation could stand up to a deccent amount of abuse
Hole patterns: does anyone know if any of the above listed bindings could be mounted(with inserts) in a way that both mounts will have a full 1CM between holes?
I can't think of any reason this wouldn't work, as long as I can figure out a combination of bindings that the distances between holes will work out. i'm open to suggestions though.
has anybody tried something like this and have any guidance?
