I am a leader and I started Bachata 6 months ago. I'm taking 2-3 classes a week. I go to social dance events around once a month or once every two months
I learn so many new moves every class. However, when I'm dancing socially, I make a fool of myself. I sometimes get confused about what move to do and think too much. When I try to do a move I learnt in a class in social, I often forget what to do in the middle of the pattern. The followers probably feel like I'm such a bad leader.
I've learnt more than 40 moves / patterns. Yet, sometimes during socials, I forget everything and end up just doing basic left-right, turns and some simple stuff. I feel like a fool. If the instructor is at the social, I feel they probably feel ashamed of having me as a student.
It's been 6 months. I've moved on to intermediate classes. However, when I dance social, I dance like a beginner with beginner-like patterns/moves.
I feel discouraged every time I come back home from social dancing and I question if I'm ever going to be able to dance like the others.
Is it going to get better? If yes how and when?,
