I routinely see people here complain about the partner looking disinterested in the dance, yet gum seems to be defended every time someone brings it up. I just saw it in my class again yesterday and I once again implore you: PLEASE, STOP. If you chew gum while dancing (or worse, on stage) you always look bored and uninterested in the dance. I routinely mention this live to friends and get a defensive response as if it is a part of peoples personality.
The boomers were right, after all. This needs to be mentioned by teachers along with "shower" and "use deodorant".
And please stop with this "but I want my breath to smell good". Just brush your teeth before the party. Unless you have a weird medical condition (which you probably don't) doing this before the party is more than enough.
I disagree that chewing gum ALWAYS makes someone look bored and disinterested. If you have a great connection with someone through eye contact, smiles, just a general good vibe between you, I don't see that chewing gum is going to negate all that.
