Is there a name for the position where the lead is standing directly behind the follower?
Post Body

Hi all, as it says in the title, is there a name for the position where the lead is standing almost directly (or might be totally directly) behind the follower, and they are connecting with arms outstretched? I'm looking for steps to do from this point on youtube, but not knowing what's it called (if it even has a name) means I'm not having any luck. Any help much appreciated.

Oh it's your site!! 😁 yes it's very helpful! I commented in your thread before saying how useful it is, i just need to remember to use it more 😊

Amazing thank you so much! I know of that site but didn't know what to search for. That's been so helpful 😊

Ah I should have mentioned, it's definitely not shadow position. I know how to do that one. The titanic would make sense as a name for what I'm looking for, I'll see if I have any luck with that cheers.

Thanks! I didn't realise it was still shadow position, even if your right hand wasn't on the follower's waist :)

Thanks for this 😊 it's not a position I linger in, it definitely is a transition but I don't really know many ways to transition out of it but this thread and watching videos has given me some good ideas.

Ah ok, thank you. And I totally agree about the caress, which is why I'm looking for alternatives. I would only do a caress towards the end of a song if I felt the connection had been good and they were comfortable with it.

Couldn't download the clip but this is a screengrab.

To get into it, the leader puts both hands up one below the other, palms facing the follower, then the follower puts their palms on the leads palms. Then the lead spins them round and either keeps going so they're facing the lead with hands crossed at the end, or stops at the point in the video. (I know you know how to do it, just trying to be clear about where it happens :) ).

So from this point I know I can do a caress up the sides of their body (using their own hands of course) but I don't really know much else. I've seen one where the lead moves to the side and gently pushes the follower the opposite way, so they connect left hand - right hand but I haven't tried that yet. Sorry, my explanations are probably very confusing 😫

I'll try and find a clip of what I mean. I've seen it used a lot in bachata, but I might be explaining it poorly.
