Having read a comment on here today about how practising is the link between classes and socials, I've realised I need to incorporate it much more, as I still really struggle in the socials. But the problem I have is that I don't have a practice partner to work with in between lessons so I was wondering what some tips are for practising alone? A few of the things I was thinking are:
- it's a good time to really focus on footwork and the counts
- to make sure to practice to different tempos of music
- to record myself as much as possible.
Any other useful tips would be very much appreciated.
Thanks all!
Yeah I agree that's best, but I find that very hard to do. But I guess I'll just need to try and make more of an effort with it.
Thanks for these. I actually have a full length mirror already, it was here when I moved in, so I have that covered. I'll look up some of the good youtube channels and see what I can get from them.
The last part is the issue I have, there's literally no one I know that I can ask to practice with that would be willing or that knows the steps 😣

Sorry, I can't believe I didn't include that info. Yes, I'm a leader and I've been dancing for about 8 months now. Thanks so much for this really detailed reply. I'll take all of these onboard and give them a try, especially the video recording since I can properly dissect what I'm doing. The air turns are what I do in lesson if I don't have a partner for any of the rotations, so it's good to know that's useful. Thanks again, and I'll really get working on that basic step :)
