The title says it all. I weighed 150lbs at 5'7 before I got pregnant. Not exactly super-model thin, but also not overweight. I was active with my fire department and was very into weight lifting, and generally physically healthy.

I've gained a total of 40lbs during my pregnancy, putting me right at 190lbs. I've been paying for STD and regular health insurance at my job for quite a while now- since before I knew I was pregnant. I filed the claim for my pregnancy with them when I was about two months along. Apparently they never got my original height and weight at the time of the initial filing. So they put my claim on hold until maybe two weeks ago. They called me up and asked for my current height and weight, and I told them I was 5'7 and 190lbs and also edging in on my 38th week of pregnancy.

Today I got a letter from them, telling me my claim was denied due to my height and weight. I am exactly a week from my due date and am feeling pretty screwed at the moment. I've had a completely healthy pregnancy up until this point, but the insurance company denied me for apparently being too fat. Am I really that fat? The doctor estimates the baby's weight is around 8lbs at the moment, and pretty much all of the weight has gone directly into my belly. I honestly don't see how I could really qualify as being all that overweight right now. Maybe about 5lbs over the medically ideal guidelines (which I personally blame on the nearly three cup sizes of growth in my boobs).

Anyway, I told my boss about it and she's trying to see what she can do, but from what I've read about laws and policy regarding STD online, I'm not feeling especially hopeful. Time to have a mild panic attack.
