Space for baby when your partner is a hoarder
Post Body

Hi All,

First time pregnancy here, 15 weeks and very sick all the time. Otherwise healthy.

My issue is that I live in an over 1000 feet house with a kitchen, a bathroom, a second bathroom which the partner ripped out 5 years ago and is 'working on', a large living room, an 'office' (my partner's) and another large room. We also have a very large 2 car garage which is constantly being used for car repairs.

My partner owns the house. He wouldn't admit it but he is a hoarder. We decided we wanted to get pregnant and we are both thrilled. This evening we were sitting in the living room, the one room that has room for us both to sit comfortably and watch TV, when he declared that he had decided he wanted to make THIS room the baby's room.

I told him, this is the living room. I motioned towards the large back room and said "we have a large room back there that we don't use!" and he said "well if we put them in there we will have to move everything in to this room". And he said "we won't have time to watch TV when the baby comes anyway".

How can I talk to him about this? I tried to talk to him about ME having some space before and he flipped out and accused me of just trying to make his life hard. Help?
