Etiquette on baby showers and gender reveal

Okay so my friend is pregnant. She wants to keep the babies gender a secret until after her baby shower. She thinks she'll get too many gender specific things if she let's people know beforehand. Okay fine, no big deal. She wants to reveal the gender (not at a party, just announce it) a couple days later. Is that okay or is this some etiquette no no?
