I went to labor and delivery at around 9AM, swollen and with a horrible headache. My husband had worked until 6AM and my mom needed to watch my baby, so I went in alone.
I checked into triage pretty fast. I had lost three pounds. My blood pressure was 142/90, pulse 100bpm and thready, splitting headache, pitting edema still present.
I was admitted to the maternity ward for observation at around 9:30AM.
They ran blood and urine tests and attached me to a BP monitor and fetal monitors. I had a lot of BH contractions, and after a long time of sitting around, my BP finally stabilized.
The lab results came back negative for pre-eclampsia. I, in fact, seem to have a very healthy liver. My organ function is all fine. But as I have posted about previously here, I've been under a great deal of stress from work, and apparently my symptoms were due to stress related blood pressure increase/stress induced migraine.
They put me on an IV and gave me some kind of steriod cocktail to help with my headache. I forget the name of the main drug, but it was combined with diphenhydramine and some kind of anti-nausea medication.
It knocked me right on my ass. It caused some kind of weird buring sensation in my crotch when it was administered, then some feeling of nervousness/agitation, and then I passed out.
I had been trying to contact my husband to meet me at the hospital but he ended up not being able to make it there until it was time to leave. Someone blocked his car in with a moving truck and he had to call my dad to give him a ride to the hospital.
Thankfully the IV meds had mostly worn off by then and I could walk without falling over. We went and got burgers on our way home because I was starving.
I am not officially on orders not to go back to work due to stress related complications. I'm at home now with my toddler, watching Yo Gabba Gabba and just trying to relax.
Thanks everyone for your help and encouraging me to go to the hospital! Luckily it ended up not being as serious as it could be, but I am happy to have the official clean bill of health and am also happy to know my baby girl is free to gestate for another few weeks.
