So, this is our first baby. We arrived and are being induced. My wife had begun strong contractions, very strong. She started getting pitocin and her cervix started to really tighten. It tightened so much that for (2-3 minutes?) the baby’s heart rate went from steady 120-130 to 65-70ish. The nurses rushed in, they began to work on my wife.
Her water broke, she started bleeding and they gave her meds to relax her cervix. The babies heart beat returned to normal and the doctors reassured me she would be ok and that the lowering of heart rate wouldn’t cause any harm for the time it happened.
As a first time parent and veteran, seeing my wife and soon to be child in distress really overwhelmed me and I got some flashbacks.
Sorry for the rant but I can incredibly stressed through the whole delivery process.
Edit: baby came tonight and is absolutely beautiful and a whopper! 8.3 lbs! Mom and baby are safe and healthy. Baby is also a BIG eater. 10 mils of donor milk already!
