This is my first pregnancy, and my provider is suggesting a vaginal birth which I'm ok with. She gave me some videos to watch to prepare me for labor and delivery, which is coming up in about 2 months (I'm 30wks). I have had bad experiences with spinal taps and spinal cortisone shots in the past, so watching how they place the epidural immediately had me in a panic attack. Any suggestions on how to cope with the inevitable anxiety? Does anyone know of any safe medication that might be used prior to the epidural to lower my anxiety so that the anaesthesiologist will be able to do the epidural?
