I loved the attention to detail that went into making the colonial military feel like a real organization, but one area where this was clearly lacking was the marines. I know it might’ve been a bit much to add a bunch of marine characters alongside all of the pilots, deck crew, and bridge officers whose stories we were following, but I would have liked to have seen at least one or two that we followed over the course of the series so Lee and Starbuck wouldn’t have to be on every ground mission.
Another group of people which I felt had some real wasted potential was the Quorum of Twelve. They could have given the audience a better understanding of the ways each colony differed in their moral values and approach to government. Instead, we never get to see them involved in important decisions or acting as a significant obstacle to anything Roslin or Adama wants to do. If they had been more involved in the story, it would have been a lot more impactful when Zarek has them killed during the mutiny.
