So Harry (my partner) is now ignoring all contact from M again (his former partner) because she blew up his phone tonight with a slew of texts about how when she really needed him because her mom had a stroke, he wasn't there for her.

First of all, Harry and I were at Burning Man. His phone was off and/or on airplane mode after the first few days, because there's no cell service once the first 20,000 or so people show up, so having it searching for service there is useless.

Unless M lives under a rock, she'd know that Harry was at Burning Man. Because he's been going for over 10 years, and the news has made Burning Man an annual talking point.

But besides those very valid points, there's the part where, when Harry finally turned his phone one again, he did say something like "OMG, just saw this, just getting back from Burning Man, is she OK?" and M didn't respond to that text, or several other texts until days later. As I said in my original post, she said it was because she had a really bad head cold.

Turns out, she was testing their relationship. And Harry failed.

Anyways, she sent him a pile of vitriol (like the title), and his only response was "This is bullshit, don't contact me until you're ready to apologize for saying all that".

And he said to me tonight "am I nuts for trying to stay her friend?". To which I stared at him for too long and then said "I don't understand what you get out of this relationship" and he sighed and said "me neither".

I do hope he breaks off any kind of relationship with her soon. At the very least, he has acknowledged the cycle. They spend one out of every three months not speaking because of bullshit like this, but eventually she apologizes and then they speak for a month or two until the next blow up. Such a dumb waste of energy.
