My ex girlfriend and I have been broken up for over a year. We broke up entirely once before and got back together, there have also been several small recycles. Each time things got worse and more volatile. Four and a half years of my life I dedicated to trying to make this relationship work, many of those years I was well aware of the presence of BPD and wanted to power through it and be one of the success stories. That obviously didn't happen.
I had a very difficult time detatching and letting go, but I'd say that I finally achieved it a few months ago.
We have been in full blown no contact for at least 6 months at this point. I honestly stopped counting.
Yesterday, I was laying down after work and my phone went off. Text messages full of vulgarity and defensive bravado from her current guy. Apparently some package had shown up to the house that we used to share that she is now living in with another guy with my name on it. I changed my address over a year ago and I have no idea what this piece of mail would be. The guy was screaming at me about changing my address and threatening to come and want to fight me and talking about how I need to leave it all alone. He had very specific character attacks considering we had never met.
So she's been telling him a bunch of stories about how awful I am, and triangulating the crap out of him, while I've been trying to just live my life in peace.
It's just amazing to me how triangulation is so ingrained in their behavior patterns. You'd think that they were just start a relationship and not mention their awful past, but they have to make the new partner uneasy and confused.
