how did u feel about your diagnosis?

i have cptsd and many of the symptoms of bpd. my therapists agree (and have for ~2 years) and we are working on a bit of DBT but not primarily. my therapist says pursuing more answers on bpd is up to me and that we can continue working on trauma processing and coping skills regardless.

should i pursue a formal diagnosis? these are my thoughts currently:

pros: susinct way to communicate needs and share support resources with close loved ones

maybe access to resources like medications etc

connect to other ppl in my area w the same challenges

cons: i don't believe a personality can be disordered

lots of stigma in media and mental/healthcare

my childhood abuser has it :/

did you hesitate to pursue a diagnosis? were you not expecting to be diagnosed? how did you feel? how did your loved ones react? how do you feel about it now? i want to hear all your thoughts.
