Lately I've been tackling a lot in my personal life. My husband was in a car accident recently that left the car totaled. It has been a painful process all together for us.
While all of this has been going on - so have protests. I have wanted to join and walk along the side of my friends, brothers, and sisters. But life right now is making it impossible. I work all day and then my husband works when I get home. We're sharing the rental car.
I've donated. I have been re-posting ways to be an ally, signed petitions and had talks with family members. But there are some people in my friend group that believe if you aren't out protesting, you're a faker. You don't care about the cause. They share things like this all over social and it kills me.
I know my feelings shouldn't be the focus here! The focus should always stay on helping POC raise their voices so they can be heard! But here I am...
I am feeling defeated. Does anyone have tips on how to be an ally and still take care of your mental health?
