A few months ago I was hospitalized in a psych ward for depressive symptoms and suicidal ideation, and the hospital report said they think I have “cluster B personality traits.”
Well, this morning I met with my new psychiatrist for the first time, told him my background/story, and it turns out that he also suspects I have BPD, even before I brought up the hospital report. Soooooo that’s a further nudge in this direction, I guess. I suspected this already, but I was glad to have more of a confirmation so I can look into this part of myself more.
Does anyone have any good books they’d recommend, either about BPD or from the perspective of someone who has BPD? I read “Girl, Interrupted” in high school for a psychology class and I used to be a psych major so I’m quite interested in this stuff.
Or just… what were your thoughts and reactions when you first learned that you might have BPD? What was that like for you? I want to hear people’s stories.
Also, another weird thing that came to mind when I scrolled through this subreddit: I don’t obsess over real people in my life but I do obsess over movies, fictional characters, actors, musicians, etc pretty frequently. Anyone else have the same experience?
I’m also not that interested in romance. That seems unusual in this subreddit.
