iām nearly 20 and no longer live with my parents. my mom is aware iām in therapy, to the extent that sheās aware of is for severe dissociation and bdd, however, i get my official bpd diagnosis next week. iām not sure how to tell her. i only see her 2-3 times a year for short intervals and she lives a few states away. she refused to believe i was even the slightest bit depressed as a kid despite showing behaviors since i was in elementary school. im not sure if she will react well, honestly i think i got this from her, and i place my bet on her saying my therapist is wrong. i have the quiet subtype so all of my behaviors are directed inward, so itāll make it more difficult for her to believe bc to her im ānormalā. iāve considered making a cake that just says āiām borderlineā on it as a joke and telling her to lighten the mood, but i genuinely donāt know how to tell her.
