I got diagnosed with BPD recently and my mom is causing problems
Post Body

after years of struggling with my mental health, being hospitalized, going through trauma and seeking help I got a diagnosis for BPD. the thing is I live with my mother who isn't very knowledgeable on personality disorders, how they form or how to use skills in general.she does her own "research" which involves going on Facebook and talking to people there, going to harmful subreddits and surface level googling. she is a firm believer that my diagnosis came out of nowhere and while I do show most of the diagnostic criteria for BPD, I don't have any reason to have the disorder. her behavior is extremely invalidating, when I use DBT skills with her like DEARMAN or other tough conversation skills she pretends to sleep or says things like "so you think I'm the worst mother ever", she talks over me at doctors appointments, she gets mad at me when I'm splitting and makes things worse by calling me names. there's more too, I'm incredibly frustrated. when I'm in therapy and I tell my DBT therapist or my regular therapist about what's happening they give me skills to use but the problem is skills don't really work when the other person is purposely aggravating you and not putting in any work themselves. my question is how do I have a surface level relationship with her until I can move out of her house? I need to be polite and act like we're fine until I can escape, I'm not sure how to do that.
