Interested in hearing some advice. I run BOINC on an old Mac Mini (Late 2012, 2.5 Ghz dual core i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD). It’s strictly dedicated for World Community Grid use. I average about 6,500 points a day.
Realizing it’s getting a little long in the tooth, I’m willing to spend a little money to provide some upgrades. I can upgrade the RAM to 16GB and get a solid state drive for around $100, hoping that will allow me to run projects faster. What do you think? Should I spend my $100 on something else, like a USB miner?
Alternatively, I could sell the Mac mini for around $175 and then invest $275 in something new. Is there anything out there for that price range I’d be interested in for BOINC?
Thank you. In advance, for sharing your thoughts!
