Alright so I’m looking to upgrade my car now that I’m actually doing well in my life, I’m coming from a Nissan xterra designed for off road use but just want to make sure I’m not shooting myself on the foot doing this.
I already do all my own work from breaks to oil changes to basic repair with a yearly check in at a dealer. I got a quote from Geico for $189 a month for insurance, I’d finance it for $200 a month the remaining after my savings and trade in. My only fear is that at 51k it can have a lot of issues and I know bmw can get expensive to maintain, so just want a bit of insight on worst case scenarios with an x3 like this!
Awesome! It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for blacked out blue color with a tan interior too!
That’s what I’m imagining too like I can easily replace any part I need I’m just worried about the technical side of things as I just refuse to fuck with the software or electrical haha
That was my biggest decision was settling for the car I’m currently in to get my finances in order before I pull the trigger, biggest issue right now is I’m getting 10 miles to the gallon and it’s just eating my wallet every week. But I get what you’re saying I feel like I should put more time into my money and get something a little cheaper to maintain right now and then in a couple years trade that in for something like this.
This is super helpful!! Thank you!
Alright this is giving me a better idea on what I’m getting myself into thank you! Doing my own maintenance seems to be my biggest savior here but we’ll see!
That’s a good mention I didn’t think about tires and I expect to have a few repairs at 60k but just trying to gauge if I should save an additional 2k for repairs ahead of time. As for repairs I love working on my own cars so that’s not a major issue for me personally I’d rather spend $200 and a weekend doing it myself than pay the $1200 a shop would charge me, but also not sure if I can do that necessarily with a BMW and not tank the value later on. Driving is my stress relief so I’m happy to spend a bit more but just don’t want to bury myself over a car you know?
Okay so in the next 20k miles I should expect a couple big ticket repairs then if I got this one?
Standard maintenance seems to be a little pricey but nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion, is it stupid to get this at 26? I make 60k a year right now and only pay 750 for rent but idk I’ve always wanted to get an x3 but I’m battling myself on whether it’s smarter to get something simpler until I’m older.
